Making: plans for the summer.  How can it be?!   I've started penciling in a few things here and there but it just feels crazy to be looking at July and August right now.

Cooking: tonight?  Nothing!  Danny has an interview over dinner so I think I'm scavenging - toast, crackers, cereal - whatever's easy and around the house.

We had the opportunity to spend a week in beautiful, sunny Malta over New Year's, and while we took trips around the island to a few different towns, we spent the majority of our time in Golden Bay.  My grandparents allowed us to use their timeshare at the Radisson Blu Resort Golden Sands - and wow - what a gift.  We spent a week overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, listening to the waves crash into the rocks, and taking little walks along the beach.

On our last full day in Malta, we took a short trip to Mdina, which is a walled city with more than 4,000 years of history.  Apparently this is where Paul lived when he was shipwrecked in Malta around 60AD on his way to Rome, and thus began Christianity's nearly 2,000 year history on the Maltese islands.

We took our second day trip on Malta from our resort in Golden Bay to the capital of the island, Valletta. Valletta was established in the 1500s and today the historical city has a population of only about 6,000, but the metropolitan area is closer to 400,000.  Valletta is the southernmost capital of Europe, and in 1980 it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

While we were in Malta, we spent about half of our days around the resort – exploring the area by foot or just hanging out, and we spent the other half of the days doing day trips around the island.

Our first, and most anticipated, day trip was to the nearby island of Gozo...
