We've been a bit quiet recently, but that doesn't mean we haven't been up to some really fun adventures! We left Madrid three weeks ago, and have spent time in five cities across southern England since then. Highlights include country walks, cream teas, and colorful houses. We love it here! 🇬🇧
One of our favorite parts of visiting Ávila is being able to walk on top of the well-preserved city walls and climb up many of the towers that protect the old city. The views are great, and both times we've visited, we've pretty much been the only ones!
Recently we took a day trip from Madrid to Ávila, where medieval walls encircle the entirety of the old city. We first visited two and a half years ago, not long after we first moved to Madrid, so it was fun to return to one of our favorite places in Spain before we leave this weekend for a new adventure!
The last city we visited on our trip around Central Europe over Christmas and New Year's was Zagreb. The capital of Croatia isn't large, and can be seen in a day, but its been voted the best Christmas market three years in a row now, and is definitely worth a stop during December or the beginning of January! 🎄
When we visited Morocco, we stayed in three different Airbnbs. One of those was a part of a riad, a traditional Moroccan house with an interior courtyard. We couldn't believe how hospitable everyone was, and we certainly loved our breakfast spread and the views over the city!
Over the past four years, we've stayed at over 50 Airbnbs in 16 countries. We've stayed in some of the world's most famous cities and most beautiful villages, and met some interesting, kind, and intelligent hosts along the way. One of those hosts took us for a walk through the weekly market, introducing us to his friends and favorite goods as we went, and back at his home, we tried cheeses and pastries from around the region - a fun, spontaneous experience, and an example of just one of the many reasons we love @airbnb.
